.... take the baby for a walk?
....take the baby inside a public area?
....exercise? (totally dependent on how you feel, or is there a standard w/natural and C-section deliveries?)

I took my daughter for a walk around the maternity ward the day after I delivered... however when she was 3 or so days old I took her for a walk around the block

Other than to the doctor I took my daughter to target when she was 10 days old... however that's being said my husband was back at work after 1 week and I was alone so things had to get done lol

Excersizing is totally dependant on how u feel... for a natural birth I would say wait at least 2 weeks or u will bleed longer. A c section 6 weeks or longer...

My midwife recommended staying in pj's for two weeks after the birth--as a reminder that that was a time to relax and recover (and let someone else run the errands!).

I starting going for walks around the block after about 2 weeks, but no strenuous exercise until after my 6 week checkup (at which point, they actually told me to wait a couple more weeks to do any kind of ab exercises because my muscles were still separated). As for going out to stores and places like that, I took my Spring baby out after about 2 or 3 weeks. My winter baby stayed away longer because I was a little bit more wary in the height of flu season.

Are you really asking these questions? I am amazed that someone can ask these type of questions and raise a human. Scary.

Ignoring the crazy post above, OP these are good questions for your pediatrician and OB. Your OB will give you the Ok for exercise as long as things are healing properly. Pediatricians have different recommendations on when to take the baby to public places - I know that mine said it was ok to go for walks outside but to avoid public places the first month. Some of my friends have received different information.

No, the scary thing is that you're even around humans. Go away if you can't be nice. Nobody needs to read your crap.

Thanks for your rising to my defense. Yes, there are some nasty people out there. This woman (or man) sounds like anger management may be useful.

I think its good to not get caught up in timelines b/f your babe is born as there are so many variables - including your personal comfort level with various activities. We took our daughter out pretty much immediately and had no problems. I also had an easy (vaginal) delivery and was up and about (although not excercising) right away. You will be tired though, (with so little sleep) so give yourself permission to NOT start exercising too. Giving birth, no matter how 'easy' the delivery, still takes a major toll on your body and you need time to rest.
