There were a few outside players at the 1st ID but it’s an age tough group to break into with so many highly competitive BRAVE and Union players. I don’t think any outside players made it to the top field.

So… also the NC boys’ teams play high school in the Fall, while the NC girls
Play high school in the Spring, so the schedules would never match up completely anyways. Not sure that it is simply a matter of field space, but maybe for the middle school age groups it is…

ECNL made Mclaen and Brave combine for the boys but the girls was up to the clubs...NM pushed for it so he could be DOC. Promotion for him and his career and CW and LW and the BOD went along for the rid. If things do not work out he'll just go to another club. Most importantly though is there a parent out there who's DD likes playing for him? I have not met one people just put up with him.

Another blindly privileged McLean parent speaking out of their arse. Do you realize how lucky you are to have all these options to choose from within a 15-20 mile radius and you wouldn't choose a team because of what traffic?

NP, but YES! I can't imagine a much worse drive (other than McLean to Montgomery Co) multiple times a week during rush hour (which is when those practices usually are). Were were a pretty hard-core soccer family at that age, but we didn't regret it one bit when we cut drive time to practice by 50%.

Play along with a McLean parent:

6p practice in Springfield. Have to leave home at 5:15 at the latest. Have to stay b/c there is barely time to get back home and get back for pickup. Practice ends at 7:30. Get home at 8:00. Start dinner......

Or 6p practice in McLean. Leave at 5:40, back home by 6:10, have an hour to prepare dinner, workout, drive the other kid to their practice, etc, before pickup at 7:30. Home at 7:40 and dinner is partly/mostly prepared...

Plus, having practice so far away pretty much eliminates the possibility/benefit of having one parent drop off and the other pick up.

We ARE lucky to have all these choices, which is why we don't have to drive 30+ minutes away for every practice.

Not gonna lie, I'm doing about a 35-40 minute soccer commute right now and it's pretty grueling. I'm definitely enjoying it for what it is, but it does preclude any other evening activities several nights a week.

NM is fine for us personally. We don't have any issue with him. Coaching style is a hit or miss thing for everyone! Some thrive with coaching styles, others move on to find their right fit. Its quite unfair to make blanket statements like this.

Not to mention no carpools when you move to a team not closer to home. We are moving close to home next year. Live in a place 10 min to each of the 2-4 practice fields without even getting on a highway.

Doesn't seem smart to me? NM had multiple ECNL teams as did the other McLean coaches. Now they each have only 1 and MV has 2. Seems like VYS out maneuvered the McLean crew. Contradicting emails received. McLean parent here. The one from the board said boys and girls both in trouble and ECNL said they had to merge. The one yesterday from NM said girls are doing great and they didn’t need to merge. Town hall should be amazing

Folks living in a NOVA ECNL “dead zone” are doing 30+ minute practice commutes on the regular. We carpool and make it work and try not to whine too much about it.

Why did GFR fire their former TD and immediately hire NM halfway through the season? With so many unknowns at all of the local clubs between McLean and Great Falls. is seems like a knee jerk reaction. I'm not an insider, so what does the "term expiration" deletion mean for the contractual stuff?? So confusing.
