How Much "Down Time" After Botox and Filler

Anonymous
I am 40 years old and thinking of having Botox and filler for the first time in the next few months. How much bruising should I expect? Would I look normal (but improved!) with no bruising after a week, such that I could go to a wedding? Thanks!

Botox is done with a tiny needle. In all the times I've done it, I've had maybe one tiny bruise which really wasn't noticeable except to me. I've had Botox done in the morning and gone right to work (after I've put my regular make up on).

I've had more bruising with fillers, but nothing a good concealer can't cover up. Don't take Advil or other NSAIDS before the procedure because it will make you bruise more easily. I've never been a big believer in homeopathy, but someone told me to try Arnica. I did and I've never had bruises heal so quickly.

Even if you had some bruising it will look better after a week and you can use concealer if you need to. My derm recommends doing Botox or fillers a good month before big events.

And ice, ice, ice for both procedures!

Good luck.

Where is the best place (anatomically, not geographically) to do Botox vs fillers? I guess I'm asking- crow's feet- Botox? Under eye bags- fillers? etc...

Botox is usually uses for crows feet around the eyes, frown lines between the eyebrows, and the forehead. Fillers are used for the lines between the nose and mouth. According to my derm (Jaffe, O'neill and Lindgren), nothing short of surgery gets rid of the bags under the eyes, unfortunately.

Thank you 18:02, I was the PP who asked the question. Do you have a Botox v. Dysport opinion?

No bruising or ice for either when I've done it. One thing to know - Botox takes a while to kick in. So, if you've got something coming up give yourself a 2 week window. I think the 2 week mark is optimal. Fillers work immediately. Fillers hurt more when they're done, but they give you numbing cream. Botox/Dysport really don't hurt. I've used both Botox and Dysport and can't tell the difference yet.

Not OP, but I've always wondered if they can put filler in those lines in between your eyebrows. Mine seem really deep.

I did dysport for the first time between my eyebrows. It was really interesting. Every day I would try to frown and each day, I was less and less able to do do. It was weird, but great. I do filler in my laugh lines. I usually look like a chipmunk the first day (no can notice but me), but it evens out the second day.

Do fillers last longer than Botox?
Anonymous
Yes fillers last a good year or more (it's also more $$). Botox or Dysport only lasts a few months. I need to do both so bad but I am broke. I had bad bruising from the filler on one side of my chin and arnica did not help. It took a good week to heal. I would do both a month in advance to let everything settle. Especially if it is your first time doing it. It takes a while to get use to. I freaked out the first time but after a month I really loved it.

18:02 here. I've never noticed a difference between dysport and Botox. I know others have though. I think it is one of those YMMV things.

No downtime with botox. Fillers can cause horrible bruises that last 1-2 weeks.

I think that would give me an anxiety attack, literally.
The fear of not being able to move my face keeps me from trying it...I'm too much of a control freak/hypochondriac.

You'll be fine a week later. Don't take Advil or aspirin 1-2 weeks prior. I go at lunch and go back to work no o e notices a thing.
