Advice for family moving to Shanghai?

A relative of mine and her family are moving to Shanghai from New England. I know its a long shot, but any advice from someone who's BTDT? Kids are 10 and 4.

You need to talk to penguinsix. He's a regular on these boards, and at least a few others (though I haven't seen him in a while). He's living somewhere on the other side of the world (China? China adjacent?) at the moment, and would probably love to tell you all about it.

Since all the posts are "anonymous", how would I identify posts by "penguinsix" (and how did you?)

HK is worlds away from Shanghai in terms of culture and lifestyle.
