is this name super popular?
not sure why i care so much, i like the name. having trouble coming up with an alternative. thanks! |

I have three young kids and don't know any kids with the name Clara.
Very nice name. |
| I happen to know two Claras (ages 4 and 5) and one Claire (age 4). I don't think it's any more "super" popular than several others. If you like it, use it! Maybe its popularity peaked 4 years ago. |
| Know a lot of Claires but no Clara. I like it, but it sounds very old fashioned so make sure you're okay with that. |
|
I have a 2.5 year old Clara, and the only other one we've met was a toddler on an airplane. People often tell us it's their mother/aunt/grandmother's name but we haven't encountered other child Claras.
We got very positive reactions when we named her, and people still comment on how much they like the name. Downside is that people often call her Claire, or even Carla (particularly if they're reading the name like at a doctor's office). In the SSA database, I think it's around #80 - #100 for the last 10 years but I'm too lazy to look it up now. Go for it! |

Lovely. Truly. |
| Love that name. Great choice. Reminds me of the Nutcracker. Beautiful. |
| I love Clara!! It's definitely not super popular. |
|
I almost named my kid that. There are probably more like me. So I m guessing not popular (or super popular) now but will get there, soon.
Also makes ure to look at alternative spellings on SS list. |
| We know a preschooler Clara around here. Can't think of any others, though. |
| Love it too. |
| Love it. My friend's niece is named Clara. She is about 15 now. Very cool, funny girl. |
| My DS was going to be called that (until he was born, of course!). Have a relative who named their now 3 year old that. Only thing to be aware of is that it can be pronounced differently ... 'cluh-ruh' (English) / 'clare-uh' (American). |
To add another, the Clara I know around here is Claw-rah. (More accurately, somewhere between Clah and Claw for the first syllable. Hard to describe in writing.) |
| Hate the name. Almost as much as Molly, Lilian, Evelyn, Sadie etc.... I don't get why names from my grandmother's generation are back now. They were horrid then and they are horrid now. |
