room&board parsons table - what finish top?

Anonymous
I would like to get the parsons table from room & board to use as my kitchen table. it will get lots of everyday use - family meals plus elementary aged kids doing homework, projects, etc. i love the reclaimed wood top, but am worried it will get very scratched. going another way i could get a clear glass top, but think i will constantly be cleaning all the fingerprints off of it. Any suggestions?

I am willing to spend a lot of money on furniture so it's not like I am a thrift store only type of person. I frankly think that parsons table looks cheap for the price. Personally, I would look for something better than that.

Why don't people answer the actual question asked as opposed to making a complete 180 turn and typing something unrelated?

The table isn't for you, GREAT. The table is for the OP, Great. Let her buy it if she wants. We wont force you to buy it. Agreed?

I would go with a stone top. I have whatever they call the silvery steel finished version, to which I added a stone top that matched my counters.

I know they sell a quartz option. That would probably be the most durable choice.

I think the reclaimed top will look ok even if it gets some tough love.

We got a different table and went with a maple top, hoping that would be the hardest. So far so good but it hasn't been long and I think things will probably show more if there is anything.

I have a Parsons in my kitchen with the marble top. We've had it almost a year, and have two young kids who eat, do arts and crafts and homework at it. I've been very pleased with the look and durability. Only problem is that it's so heavy it's hard for DH and I to move.

In comparison, we also have a cherry topped desk from R&B and the kids scratched it the first time they got near it!
