Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell floated Attorney General Jeff Sessions as a replacement for Roy Moore, the Alabama Senate candidate accused of sexual misconduct and assault of teenagers when he was in his 30s.

McConnell brought up the idea Tuesday night at the Wall Street Journal CEO Council's annual meeting in Washington, proposing Sessions as a write-in candidate to take back his old Senate seat. He cited Sen. Lisa Murkowski, R-Alaska, as a successful example of a write-in campaign.

McConnell denounced Moore's alleged behavior earlier this week, saying he believed the women who came forward with accusations. The Senate majority leader also said he spoke with Trump about the situation.

I am the PP who is the Republican molestation survivor who explained why I did not come forward until 15 years after the abuse. If you and your cousin want to vote for this man given that multiple women have said the same thing about him and he has proven his lack of fitness in other ways, have at it. But you are a fool to think that there is not a sex and power culture that is potentially harmful to young women and that discourages the disclosure of these incidents. I know this firsthand. The reasons my abuser used to dissuade me from coming forward are the same things people are saying now to defend Moore and demean these women.
