I really think we need a new group for people who don't believe in systemic bias. There are a lot of people here who would join.

Nope, you’ve lost me here. I definitely believe in systemic bias, but also think those AEM posters are bullies and detrimental to their cause in the way they steamroll every conversation.

No, she isn't. And another one, last initial K (also not a moderator), tends to echo W every. single. time. W posts something - even if it's to agree or to extend a phrase.

The biggest bully W along with her two side kicks K and Y really should leave AEM and start a hate group called WKY. Haha

To clarify, I agree that there’s obviously systemic bias. I don’t think those posters are bullies, and I think their pain and frustration is understandable, however, I do not think turning on each other helps advance justice. I think this strategy works to target leaders, like we don’t need to be polite to Kristen Njielsen when she wants to go out to dinner while kids are being kept in cages. BUT it’s a very different thing to respond to a private citizen who self-identifies and a Democrat for either expressing support for a moderate Democratic candidate or questions the tactics or motives of the other Democratic candidate. I think I may vote Tafti, but I am still unhappy about the smearing of Stamos. Just run on the issues! Especially when it’s another Democrat. Save the vitriol for Republicans. We need to maintain a big tent to win, people!

Hard to stay in the same tent as those bullies....

Real allies are not that fragile.

Says the bully.

I'm a real ally and systemic bias is real IMO. But I'm undecided in the CA race and at this point leaning towards Stamos because of very large concerns about the conduct and judgement of Tafti. And I don't want to be called a racist because of it, which is where the convo is now on AEM.

And it would be pronounced “wacky”. They are very hateful and mean bullies. I wish they could share their perspectives in a way that would foster discussion. Instead, their viciousness is working against their stated goals.

+1 they are really over the top and it’s going to back fire and then they will use racism as an excuse rather than admit that they had any part in Causing divisiveness and clouding the issues with unecessary vitriol.

How sad is it that when I voted today in the caucus, I all of a sudden realized I had a slight feeling of being afraid. I spoke with some Stamos supporters and was afraid one of them might be there and see me and berate me in public. I know it is irrational, but they are pushing such an angry, divisive message that I could imagine them yelling and saying the same kinds of hateful things they say online in real life

They are the definition of bullies.

Yeah, I don’t want someone who can’t even run an honest campaign running the prosecutor’s office. Sorry, Parisa. You should have run on issues instead of putting out attack ads that are easily fact checked as false.

I have similar concerns and talked to someone campaigning for Parisa today about them. I don’t think brutality was good phrasing. The perspective of the person I spoke with was more nuanced. I don’t like some aspects of Parisa’s campaign and I especially hate the behavior of her supporters on AEM. But I’d like to see someone more willing to use their prosecutorial discretion to avoid bringing marijuana possession charges, to not overcharge, and I think expungements should be allowed.

I’d like to see someone who actually knows how to prosecute a case be the CA. Tafti will have no respect from her staff. She will be in charge of something she’s never done. Someone mentioned the CA isn’t the one in the courtroom but how can they make the tough decisions if they’ve never been through prosecuting a case. It boggles my mind.

No, I agree with PP. I haven't posted on AEM (with my real name) because we do run into these people in real life, and I don't want to deal with them. At this point, I assume some of the most prolific posters are going to be carrying a grudge against anyone who is openly against Parisi, especially if she loses, because the underlying issues that they are tying this race to are not going away. I have no interest in forever being known around Arlington as someone who is OK with black kids being packed off to jail. I usually don't have a problem speaking out in public but right now it seems like that's a fast track to being branded a racist. No thanks.

Agreed. If you speak out against anything with the challenger’s campaign, you are painted as a racist and the mob will jump on you.
