Thoughts on the new Churchill principal?

I have no connection to Churchill but have worked for MCPS long enough to be skeptical of an internal investigation too.

+1000 an internal investigation where parents were not told their children were questioned and everything was swept under the rug.

This post struck me as odd and doesn't sound like a parent. Anyone with a child would be concerned for the safety of children.

Actually, I am a parent. I just find it odd that we keep hearing about this, and other "problems" at what is supposed to be the #1 school in Maryland. That is what I find odd!

Perhaps public schools in Maryland are at a low standard or Churchill was solely given that distinction because most students come from families that have well educated parents and high enough income to pay for tutors.

For anyone who thinks MCPS administrators are not trained to cover up and do a great job protecting students, google John Vigna and what happened at Cloverly Elementary. The principal was promoted in MCPS even after the warnings after warnings to John Vigna for putting children on his lap was reported in the media.

+1 nothing was ever communicated to parents. Seemed like a big coverup by the athletic director. He should be the next to go.

Vaping needs to be the next topic investigqted by MCPS. Kids sneak out of school for a vape and it’s accepted like smoking was in 1070s

+1 also. Why weren't parents notified if students were questioned? I thought it was MCPS policy to inform parents BEFORE students are questioned in an investigation. It's as if MCPS didn't want parents knowing an investigation took place.

And children alone in cars with coaches??? WTH is wrong with MCPS? Why would they possibly think these coaches should be working with children?

No outside witnesses for the questioning means no witnesses as to what the students were being asked and no witnesses as to what they told MCPS. MCPS then has complete control over the outcome.

Agree about vaping- in the bathroom nonstop at our HS (not churchill). I think it's an epidemic and the schools are not out in front of it...

Why do you put "problems" in quotes? It IS a problem if the allegations are true. Again, I have no connection to Churchill and don't know if they are credible allegations. I do work in MCPS though, and have been here long enough that I certainly would not operate on blind faith where the school system is concerned. Too many kids have been molested and too many staff members have been harassed or worse, and guess who goes when that stuff happens? It's whoever is lower on the totem pole. And kids unfortunately are the lowest rung. I've yet to see a principal get disciplined for allowing poor behavior under his nose. It's in their best interest to pretend they don't see it. The culture is totally screwy.

She is an awful person if she doesn't do anything about the coaches and athletic director.

I've seen some of the text messages. Parent chose to share because children are named who could be victims. Purely horrifying. Every parent should be checking their child's phone.

Fake News. She is just great. Yugely great! Good person and the best person. She has already made the school great again.
