Not Eligible

Obviously this was not a surprise but sharing for a data point. DC has a 123 WISC that we will appeal with because we have it and why not. Hopefully Level III/Advanced math will be a positive option.

Where did you get the WISC done?

GMU. It was a good experience.

Thanks. We are in the same boat as you except our GBRS was 13. We take WISC soon. Will appeal if scores are good.

Why not? Because your child is average for FCPS and should be fine in general ed, and will slow down the AAP class because he doesn't belong there. The NNAT score is below 50th percentile and the CogAt is close to 50th percentile.

CogAT is actually 80th percentile and NNAT is above average. Granted I know to cut it in FCPS you need 98th + so we all know my child will not be admitted. You don't have to worry about him holding back your superior child.

So why waste the committee's time with an appeal if you know he won't be admitted and admit he doesn't belong in the class?

I didn't say he doesn't belong. If I didn't think he was capable and it was a good fit I would never have referred.

We received our son’s admission letter yesterday, Level IV. Several posts mentioned test scores. We didn’t receive any test scores, I assume the school retains them.

Please save the feigned lack of knowledge. You’re not only on this board but posting at the end of pages, all of which discuss the scores. You absolutely know or received your kid’s scores.

Test scores came earlier. If you tossed them, that's your fault, not the school's fault.

Thank you! I hate these posts! "What? My kid took tests and those help determine AAP eligibility? What's AAP?" And yet, here they are posting on an AAP forum. I suppose after receiving the letter, OP Googled "What is APP?" and just happened upon this thread.

I don't know. We got the NNAT. Didn't receive the CoGAT so just assumed not in pool. Not sure if PP parent referred, teacher referred or was in pool and lost track of the scores.

Seems like they have added capacity recently; ie - better ratio than in the past. And lots of technology resources, which should mean more fun.

I interpreted this as a different poster. I don't know how they failed to get a Cogat score though.

??? I'm not the same poster. I was just saying I could see the person posting having not received scores in the mail as our school didn't send them all home yet either. I don't think she was saying she doesn't know what AAP is.
