It seems to me that he half expected for her to do something like this. She may have been threatening to leave, or he did something really nasty that day, and was anticipating this type of reaction.

yeah, it seems to me that maybe they had an argument earlier that day and she's done this before or something, so he didn't think twice that they weren't there and went to bed since it was late. i also got the idea that he discovered the stuff missing/bank accounts drained the next day, not that same evening. but really, regardless of what happened and when, it would have been best to keep it off the air.

That is another part of the argument that falls apart.....if Kane really subscribed to text alerts with his bank account, he would have got them for a period of time, unless the limit was really high (let's say $1,000) and Natasha knew it, and kept it underneath that amount to Kane wouldn't know.

Kane should have called the cops immediately, end of story. Even if he couldn't file a "missing person's" report, the fact his house was empty is enough for the cops to do an investigation.

No, that's not true. Text alerts would tell him when his accounts were overdrawn/zero. If she wasn't paying all the bills (electric, gas, whatever), and instead slowly taking $800 gift cards each time she went to the store (for months !!!!) he wouldn't get text alerts because she wouldn't be overdrawing the account. He got the text alerts because she zeroed out the accounts after she left that night. and he awoke to all these text messages already sent overnight.

That's true, because it can also depend on the bank. I have two banks and one will text me if they think something suspicious is going on and the other will just freeze my card. I'm pretty sure it depends on the bank and how you have it set up. Still thou I'm confused about the whole, coming to the house empty with no one there and then going to bed. When I come home and my wife isn't there I usually call her right away, usually ends up she's working and told me and I just forgot. But still...

Later on in his blithering, he mentions that she had a family member come up and they were going on vacation with the kids. I think they told Peter that they were leaving to FL that weekend (Sat or Sun) and he came home, they were gone and he didn't think about it. Only the next day when the text alerts showed up and he walked through the house and discovered the unpaid bills, empty safe, etc. did he realize it wasn't a vacation but a separation. He didn't articulate it well because (I think) he didn't plan on explaining it all, but as he continued talking you could sort of put it all together.

Regarding the text alerts, I get what you're saying about suspicious activity, but if Nat was doing this for a long time, I'm sure she had a handle on ensuring the bank it's all routine (the gift cards) and not having alerts sent - maybe all the text alerts were because she emptied all the accounts that night, so the bank sent alerts saying everything's zeroed out.

Kane should have been checking the bank account online regardless. Sometimes one gets blindsided with higher charges than it should be (hotels for example).

I find it amazing that with the Capital One credit card, you can get an alert for EVERY SINGLE CHARGE you make to your phone, yet, banks can't be bothered to allow a customer to get a text when one charges a certain amount? I know Wells Fargo will e-mail you when you set it up for anything that is above a certain amount gets charged.

Kane (if everything is true) is learning a lot of lessons about money in general. The biggest reason couples divorce is money, and usually because one is lying about it in some capacity.
