What exactly does one lose? I definitely don't want what you've got. And I wouldn't want my kids to have it either. Your post is just a thinly veiled "I have a high IQ...my kid is naturally gifted...and I am going to tiger mom my kid into beating your kid at whatever it is he/she is doing" |
When a healthy baby is born, its brain is a blank slate with an immense ability to make neurological connections, infer from environment stimuli, store massive amounts of information for later use; and retrieve the same in a millisecond. Even with this hardware & wiring, the baby has to be "prepped" as it has no clue about alphabet / language / quantifying objects and other concepts we intrinsically are expected to have to function in our modern society; heck a very basic function such as walking is a BIG milestone indicating successful "prepping" of the brain to master the complex coordination required.
So, unless the snowflakes of these "natural ability" females started yapping or running around the instant they tumbled out of the womb, there ain't nothing natural about doing well on these so-called intelligence tests or on any metric of conventional education. Potay-to, potah-to, same difference except for the smug attitude of deluded parents thinking their kids have a "natural gift" for stuff that has no evolutionary relevance for the human animal. |
But, isn't this the fundamental issue gnawing at the landed gentry on the Potomac in this century; the yearning to continue to play golf and lacrosse, vacation in Europe, play dates on Safari, while of course taking their rightful position at the head of the line to Harvard, K street, and the Board rooms? Their wailing moans and groans serve only to sabotage the hard work and preparation of others who threaten their rightlful positions "at the head of the line"? |
If it's too hot in the kitchen, step aside. |
21:51 you lose the promotion, the raise, the ability to retire early, live an easier live. You don't want that? Don't make me laugh.
It's simple, success is a combo of hard work and intel. Some have more of one or the other. I'm competitive some, yes. It's not a communist society out there by the way, you have to make your own way. Happy being a doormat, great, my shoes are dirty. My post wasn't thinly veiled, I'm smart, my kids are smart. Like I said, that gets you so far, them you run into the moderately smart but hard workers. But I guess you don't because you are busy reading articles on tiger parenting. |
You may have a high IQ, but if you think that life is about promotions, raises, and early retirement I'm not sure that's smart. You and I apparently have completely different ideas about what makes a happy and successful life. Enjoy TJ. We will enjoy life. |
...and once again reaffirming the inflated egos bitches on DCUM have. |
How do you get a promotion with broken English and an asshat attitude? |
Only in northern virginia do people get their late night thrills by proclaiming that they have a high IQ on an anonymous message board. |
22:48 that was my point. I cannot.cosst because unless you are true old school big money you need to compete with everyone else, including the third world now, thanks internationalism.
I just found the op position that prepping is unfair funny because the alternative is to require a pure natural assessment of iq which is not how the world works. I have a screaming high iq myself, I wish it was a lifelong ticket punch as op seems to think should be modeled in second grade. But it's not. I'd benefit from this model but I am still calling it stupid because it's totally unrealistic. I didn't prep my kid and rolled the dice, seems like the op also didn't prep and lost. So prepping must be spoken out against! No one else finds this funny? I would also like to speak out against gaining went after eating a lot of garbage. It's totally unfair. Garbage is delicious. |
23:38 only in (where are you?) are people reading and threatened by it.
My iq is fact based and truth is the ultimate defense. The point was iq alone is not the end all be all, speaking as someone with an a very high iq. I still have to compete against people who are not technically as smart as me. There is no iq fairness police out there. But youre right I'm very excited to be explaining this to you BC it's a real thrill to post this anonymously to strangers with no personal benefit. Your insight is amazing. Do you post often on the yahoo news articles? Your brilliance feels a little familiar. |
23:37 blame apple, theycan be over zealous in spell checking. Saying I'm smart makes me an asshat? Are you not smart? Perhaps taken some sort of message board false modesty pledge? Wtf? If I say I'm 6'4, am I still an asshat? Both things are metric based and objective.
I know I should leave but these comments are cracking me up. Thank you! |
Although I am embarassed to admit it, I live here.
As IQ goes up, social awareness goes down. There is also a much higher incidence of substance abuse and depression among those with high IQ. I have nothing more to say on the topic. I don't read Yahoo news. And I never claimed to be brilliant. That was you ![]() |
Yup. |
23:34 I've been poor and I've been rich. Rich is better, no matter what you tell yourself about it to make your reality more palatable. My success has led me to be able to spend more time with my kids than most parents because I can call the shots, dont kid yourself that I am living some slave existence while you have the true meaning of live all figured out. I note you are reading this thread so perhaps your childs achievement isn't totally off your mind, but it should be since you distain achievement so much. See I've found life is easier for the better prepared and I'd like my kid to enjoy life and not end up in some dead end job without the ability to write their own rules.
Recall I didn't prep but I am feeling better about the competition after reading post like yours. Totally fucking clueless. |
