I am concerned about Taylor trying to bottleneck council members visits to schools. If you have derelict facilities and you are getting nowhere with the school district (that tends to hide problems), then visits from council members are helpful. I see you’re splitting hairs between the phrasing of “picking a fight.” I was frustrated because you made it seem like it was my opinion he was fighting with Mink, when it was in fact she who felt attacked and needed to respond to him.

I merely meant that Taylor is in open conflict with an elected official. You are instead trying to decide who started the fight. But that wasn’t the point I was making.

I was focused on the fact that Taylor behaves in ways that rub many, including elected officials, the wrong way. And this is the second dust up he’s engaging in with an elected official after his scuffle with Kagan via his leaked email.

Personally, I think that’s foolish, and speaks to his arrogance and inability to build consensus in general. And to me, it speaks to him being a poor leader.

First, his letter was absolutely “kind.” Nothing unkind about it.

Second, he very well may have had a personal conversation that did not lead to the desired result, which necessitated the letter.

Third, Mink is certainly not the only person engaged in trying to provide information on policy and procedure to staff and families. She is just the most high profile one.

Fourth, his letter was NOT solely about that issue. It provided a holistic status of how MCPS is dealing with the environment from a few angles. It would not have made sense to send a letter without including this part.

How is it not picking a fight when Kristin clearly says she felt targeted by Taylor’s letter, and was disappointed and taken aback by it? She also vowed to keep doing the Know Your Rights sessions and showing up at schools. So she and Taylor are in open conflict now.

This is literally a fight now between 1 of 3 people on the E&C Committee, who decide how much to fund MCPS, and Dr. Taylor.

Dr. Taylor would have been much better off having a direct meeting with Mink and her team about his concerns rather than doing a general, passive aggressive letter attacking her and then having your PIO deny it was directed at her in the first place, as if she and the rest of the public are too dumb to see that he’s lying.

I am concerned about Taylor trying to bottleneck council members visits to schools. If you have derelict facilities and you are getting nowhere with the school district (that tends to hide problems), then visits from council members are helpful. Now, principals will be threatened into shutting these down. Taylor, with more big brother control.

He addressed the letter to "Elected Officials". If MCPS has protocols regarding visits, as they do and should, it is up to MCPS staff to follow them. Why did he address elected officials and who wasn't following the protocols? Whoever you are you are just digging yourself deeper with this incoherent defense of Taylor.
