Two entrees?

I've been following this and this is the most perplexing scenario I've ever read on dcum.

I may be exaggerating a little but I don't know. It's really really weird.

Are you sure he’s not fat? Tape worm? He can’t be scarfing 3 entrees in 5 minutes like a vacuum with no ill effects.

Op here with an update. FIL came for Easter. To say he was infuriating was a huge understatement. Wallet stayed firmly in his back pocket but he was full of suggestions about where he wanted to go (meaning where he wanted us to treat him).

I took the advice of many like this PP and got takeout the Saturday before Easter. First of all, he insisted on ordering multiple entrees because “nothing tastes better than leftovers”. I ignored him and ordered one entree per adult, one of the appetizers he ordered, and didn’t order dessert at all. Fil did not offer to pay. When the food arrived, he ripped the bags from my husbands hands immediately started serving himself. He didn’t even wait for everyone to get to the table before he was gobbling. By the time we managed to sit down he had consumed two entrees completely and was working on the one he ordered. There was nothing really left for my husband and I to eat, and FIL said well i ordered two entrees and a bunch of apps but it looks like the restaurant didn’t put them in the bag!! My husband through clenched teeth told him to please wait for everyone to sit down before eating and for the love of God each person is entitled to eat the entree they ordered. He looked utterly wounded and tearful, but did not offer to pay or apologize. He spent the rest of Saturday sulking.

Do I think he learned his lesson? No because my kids caught him eating out of their Easter baskets. He then asked me where the leftover candy went, and I had to tell him that the Easter bunny brought the baskets not me. My kids definitely now know there is no such thing as the easter bunny.

Either we have 1) trolling, 2) an OP who is exaggerating to the extreme for attention/sympathy, or 3) a FIL with extreme mental illness.

Or option 4, a troll who gets off just posting mean comments all day for attention.

I think we have option 5, a family situation that is supremely annoying and the OP is in the right to be annoyed.

Why do people (is it the same person all the time?) always say a poster is a troll? It is like this person is a troll who gets their jollies calling other people trolls.

Well, I am not usually calling “troll” around here, and certainly don’t do it for “jollies” and I am virtually certain this OP is trolling. Read all of their posts (they are conveniently identifying themselves again and again) and tell me you don’t see how obvious it is that they are making things up.

I’m not making it up, I don’t post on here, and I’m not really concerned that you don’t believe me.

He is definitely not skinny, and he has a big belly. However; since he is retired he’s really into working out. Also he’s quite tall.

DH says he’s been like that his whole life, a self described “big eater”. However, when my mother in law was alive she kept him from really gobbling. Since she passed he really loves him to eat and gets a lot of joy from going to restaurants. Since he’s a pretty awkward person, he doesn’t have lot of friends. I am totally certain that he looks forward to our time together, especially since he’s great about not paying for anything.

DP. There is no way this is a real situation. I’m can believe the first post. But the Easter update was just not believable.

You’re right, no adult has ever stolen candy from their children or grandchildren. Highly unbelievable.

Nobody can eat that fast or else the family is incredibly slow to sit down. What are you all doing that he was eating that much? This seems more than a little far fetched.

When he gets into his “gobbling frenzy” (this is DH’s term) he eats super quickly. Yes we were slow to sit down- I had to round up the kids and make sure everyone washed their hands.

At the end of the day, please just move on. It’s an anonymous forum- I don’t really care if you believe me or not. I do think you’re a bit sad posting this over and over. I get it, the situation is weird as heck. I wish I wasn’t in it, or at least I wish I wasn’t bothered by it. I am still annoyed at FIL and am dreading the next visit. We haven’t planned anything yet but I am not abandoning him over the holidays because he has an emotional eating disorder or mental illness or something.

I eat my kids candy all the time. Grandparents eating out of kids Easter baskets- different story. I have a hard time buying that the man indiscriminately ate multiple entrees he didn’t order out of a take out bag.

If he did, op is oddly under reacting. No way would someone continue to put themselves in this situation. Stop buying him food. Make dinner where you can make him a large plate. Who cares if he says he wants to go out. Tell him you are on a budget. This isn’t as hard as op is making it.

I believe her. I have not seen any fake zingers. The only fakery is the person / people shrieking about it being trolling.
