Quit then |
And sorry you can’t understand that elderly and disabled people exist, and the same reasons that prevent them from working also prevent them from grocery shopping. But let me guess- your pro-starvation and ableist philosophy stems from your “pro life” beliefs, right? |
Oh how did they survive before Instacart? |
Then I guess the delivery people shouldn't expect tips when helping people who are struggling. They should be doing this out of the kindness of their hearts, not trying to take advantage. |
No. They should be delivering these items bc that is their job. |
And their job enumeration is paid via tips. |
| Our HHI is 800k and I can’t justify paying for food delivery + tip. I’m amazed that so many can afford it. |
If people are receiving the max SNAP benefits then they have some challenges that probably make it difficult to get to the grocery store. No need to punish people because they are struggling financially. It's really disgusting how some people like to punch down. |
SNAP doesn't cover prepared, hot food. Just groceries. More ignorance. Maybe you should learn about our government benefits before you shet all over the people who receive them. |
Can you see the tips before you deliver? |
On DoorDash, I know what the base pay is for this area. So I can guesstimate the tip. I also look at the mileage to the store and the drop of point from my starting point. I do quick math to determine if the dollar amount is worth it for the time and mileage. EX. Deliver from restaurant 5.5 miles paying $4.20. I won’t take that as it is less than $1 a mile UNLESS it is headed towards my home for a break or end of the driving for the day. However going the opposite direction, forget it. |
Let me guess, the nanny, housekeeper who shops for you, and gardner are all ok expenses? Not like you shop for yourself or do much else. |
| Get another job if you need tips |
First PP and I don’t employ any of those people. I grew up very poor and cannot justify spending money on those services either. |

Why you should tip good delivery drivers/shoppers.
1. It's not a job. It's a contract. 30 minutes approx. The apps pay them a small fee for accessing your request. That money is not enough to pay them for the service you request. If someone takes their personal vehicle, drives to the store , uses a pcard to get $150-500 worth of groceries , shops the items, bags them, loads them up , hauls them up stairs etc. the batch fee does not cover the extra work. |
