Charleston for Thanksgiving

Anonymous
We're taking the kids and my parents to Charleston for Thanksgiving. Does anyone have any suggestions for a fabulous and memorable restaurant? I'd also be interested in places to stay.

TIA!!!

My in-laws are from Charleston, so I go a good bit. We had a great meal (last Thanksgiving actually) at Cru, a newish restaurant downtown in an old house. The one I really hear great things about though and haven't yet tried is Fig, also downtown. Don't know about places to stay since we always stay with family.

Pennisula Grill has the absolute BEST coconut cake. It's been written up in many national publications. Definitely worth a trip. Yum!!

Charleston Place is the fanciest restaurant in town, if you want to go all out. I'm also considering Middleton Place for a plantation Thanksgiving (though I think their quality may have fallen off a little over the years).

Charleston Place is not a restaurant, it's a hotel. There is a good restaurant there but by no means the fanciest in Charleston. There are many many fancy places to eat in Charleston if you are looking for that type of place. Google the city.
