Good Nursery for outdoor plants/trees?

Anonymous
We are about to embark on a landscaping project and need to purchase a lot of trees, shrubs, perennials, etc. Does anyone have a great nursery with good prices that they can recommend? We are willing to drive out in the country in VA or MD if necessary to get a good selection/price.

I'm especially looking to buy a bunch of good-sized Crape Myrtles for screening along our fence.

Thanks and Happy Spring!

Drive by the Gaithersburg (it's actually in Laytonsville, but whatevs) location of this place often. Haven't been, but looks lovely from the outside.

Stadlers is good, but Johnson's Florist and Garden Centers is better, IMO. They have a location in Olney, just a few miles from Stadler.

Other very good ones are Merrifield Garden Center in Merrifield, VA and Meadows Farm (multiple locations in NoVa).

Stadler - expensive
Behnke - super expensive
Meadows - put a gun to me, then rob me expensive

Drive to Ed's Plant World, Branch Ave, Clinton -- I live in Chevy Chase, DC and go there -- great assortment of plants, trees at HALF the price!! They have a website also, take a look.

Please rethink crepe myrtle plan...so played and not a great screening tree. For lower plantings, laurels are my choice. For trees, there are some upright junipers that are great for screening.

Meadow farms has great selection and better prices than behnkes, but don't expect any help or friendliness.

OP Here. My thanks too for Ed's. That's the type of place I'm looking for - out of the metro region.

To the PP who doesn't like Crapes - what I do love about them is that they grow very fast (we need to screen out neighbor's deck which looks right down into our yard) and the fact that they bloom for a very long period in the summer. We had them as a screen when we lived in Texas and they worked great.

Do Junipers flower?

Any other more rural nursery suggestions? I'm heading out tomorrow!

Thanks everyone.
