Silver spring- what is a nice neighborhood but close to the metro?

| The 20910 zip code - Woodside Park; Rosemary Hills; not sure what the neighborhood that borders the DTSS development is called, but north of Fenton, south of Dale or Franklin, on either side of Colesville. Your budget should get in you a pretty nice house in these areas. |

There is not much at the Forest Glen Metro station in terms of shops, restaurants, etc. - there are nice parks, and of course, Metro.
You should look in the Woodside neighborhoods - Woodside Park, Woodside Forest, North Woodside (off 16th Street near Second Avenue). Also, look at the neighborhoods off Dale Drive, between Dale & downtown SS/Georgia. | Yup, if I could go up to $700K near a Metro in Silver Spring, I would look near the SS Metro, not Forest Glen or north. |

This one's in a great location - love the neighborhood. A bit of a hike to Metro though (20 minutes maybe?).

| The neighborhood in between 16th, 2nd, Georgia and Spring Street is not too long a walk to the SS metro and has really cute/nice houses. Actually, that might be Woodside that's already been mentioned. |

| If you have a 700k budget, you should also consider Takoma Park, MD. You should be able to get walkable to MD, plus the Takoma schools have very good reputations. You would be able to walk to Old Town Takoma, and depending on where your house is located, maybe DTSS too. |

We're pretty much looking with the same parameters, not necessarily to buy right now but to get an idea of options in the future. Woodside Park and Takoma Park are my preferences, but I also like the neighborhood off Piney Branch tucked behind Takoma Park MS. That's more like 1.2 miles to the metro and not as walkable, but I love how green and leafy it is and the creek/park at the end of the blocks.

Sligo Park Hills is the "green and leafy" neighborhood in Silver Spring right near the Takoma Park Middle School that the PP mentioned. There is a stone house that just went on the market that is in your price range. (I'm not the owner. I have relatives in the neighborhood and have been admiring the house for a while now.)
