I cook all type of rice - white, brown, paraboiled and wild. However a whimsical buy I did od sweet brown rice has stumped me. I cooked it like regular brown rice in rice cooker and found that the water did not dry up and the resulting rice, even though was cooked, ended up lumpy and not fluffy.
Can some experience person help me. To stay healthy, I do not like to cook my rice with oil or butter. |
| anyone? |
| Sweet rice is glutinous. Try making sticky rice with coconut milk and mango. I have also had it mixed wirh pork and steamed in banana leaves like a tamale. It won't cook up like regular rice no matter what you do. |
| I just made some sweet rice on a lark with coconut milk and mango, as the PP said. It was really easy and tasted really good. It wasn't sweet brown rice though, just regular sweet rice (if there's a difference). |
OP here, I know I can make the sticky rice and eat it with mango. But, I was looking for suggestion to make it less sticky to use it like regular rice. I guess I should have been clearer. Anyway, I figured out that if I soak the rice for 6 hours or so and then boil it like pasta and drain, it is much less stickier. Wanted to share if anyone else is looking. |
