vaginal infection

Anonymous
I had some irritation in my vaginal area so I went to the doctor to get it checked out. He said I have a mild bacterial infection and prescribed the antibiotic Flagyl Oral and said it was safe during pregnancy. He also mentioned I could wait a few days to see if it clears up on its on...eat yogurt etc. Has anyone used this drug during pregnancy. I'm always worried about taking antibiotics during pregnancy. This one is classisfied at a Type B drug....no extensive research has been done on pregnant women but it is considered to have a small chance of side effects during pregnancy. I'm just worried about taking something that could harm the baby. I am about 33 weeks pregnant. Has anyone had a bacterial infection and how did you treat it? Thanks!

I would take the antibiotic. I thought infections (including vaginal infections) are often a cause for pre-term labor.

I agree with PP. Bacterial infections can hurt the baby. I just had a miscarriage and I am convinced it was due to an infection
