So i did see an RE and am switching offices. I wasn't satisfied. We didn't do anything for a treatment plan, but i felt like he wasn't focused on me when we met and i felt rushed....
I am struggling with secondary infertility. DH and I checked out normal at our monitoring cycle. I am 32 and he's 34. We've been ttc for 1 year. My appendix ruptured in 2010 and I am questioning if this could be a part of the problem. What I want to gain from my next RE is 1) What do we do to investigate potential scar tissue damage - does anyone have suggestions and how to treat this? I understand laprascopic surgery could help assist in determining this, but I am not keen on performing a surgery. Can't an MRI or another test tell me if I have scar tissue? 2) If I have tubal scarring, is it game over? Is there no chance of TTC naturally? Do I skip all the inbetween fertility steps ie/ clomid, IUI's and go right to IVF? 3) What tests should I make sure are not missed? My hormones, ovulation etc were all normal. My period is every 28-30 days and I typically ovulate day 14. Everything else feels fine...I produced a normal number of follicles etc...no triggers were present at the monitoring cycle... |

Have you had an HSG to make sure both your tubes are open and functional? I believe there are surgeries that can open your tubes if there were problems, but unfortunately I don't have personal experience with those. Your RE should know.
IF your tubes aren't functional (big if) then yes, you'd have to go right to IVF. There's no need to try any other treatment if the egg and sperm will never meet because of tubal blockages. |

OP here, I did have an HSG. The results were very confusing and so hopefully the new RE can be more enlightening.
During the test, the tech forgot to take pics, and the doctor may or may not have looked at the results as they happened. They got into an argument afterwards about why pics were not taken. Anyway, altho no one saw fluid travelling in the tubes, there was fluid at the end of the tubes, suggesting the fluid/dye had made its way through. I am trying to believe everyone did their job and they're confident with hte results. I would have had more faith if the doctor watched it all happen, and there were pictures to back it up or something.... |
