Psychiatrist open to complementary treatment for ADHD?

Anonymous
Hello - can anyone recommend a psychiatrist who is willing to consider complementary approaches to treating ADHD? I would like to get an evaluation done for my 8 year old daughter who appears to have AHDH (hyperactivity/impulsive type) and mood regulation difficulties based on some psycho educational testing we had done. We have had great success with mood regulation with HEG neurofeedback, but it has not done much for her hyperactivity and inattention. I am not against medication, but prefer to work with someone who is open to complementary approaches as well. Thanks.

OP - my daughter has difficulty with keeping her anger in check when she gets upset and can be quite oppositional at home (fortunately not at school.) We started doing neurofeedback with her and didn't see a big change until the practitioner added an approach called HEG, which as I understands helps increase blood flow and metabolic activity in the pre-frontal cortex. The device is placed on her forehead while she watches a video connected to a video program. When the brain waves are in optimal state the video runs and when they are not it stops until she is able to refocus and get back on track. The EEG neurofeedback works in a similar fashion but involves electrodes that measure the brainwave activity in other parts of the brain. It is not invasive and no signals are sent into the brain. Basically it works by rewarding the brain. For some reason, the HEG works best for her, but it hasn't had much impact on her hyperactivity. We still have 10 or sessions to go so the practitioner is using both approaches to see if we can help her with the hyperactivity as well. But it is so great to see the change in her behavior -many fewer meltdowns and much less oppositional than a few months ago.
