Colleges in Canada

What are the best colleges for pre-med in Canada?

McGill seems pretty good for everything

McGill is about the only Canadian school I hear about on a regular basis, and I work in higher Ed! Oh - there's a good school I think called Mount Royal - possibly in western Canada?

I applied to a bunch of Ontario schools because I was living in Canada for high school due to my parent's job.

University of Toronto, Queens, and Western all had good reputations. I can't speak specifically to pre-med.

For anyone looking at Canadian schools...colleges in Canada are different than universities. Colleges provide 1,2 and 3 yr diplomas. Universities provide undergraduate and graduate degrees.

You don't have to do premed in Canada to get into Med School. You can do your undergrad in anything as long as you get the prereqs. Many people do their undergrads in science or a health science (nursing) to give them a slight heads up on the MCAT and to work the prereqs into their program so they don't have to do extra classes. You could do your undergrad in history or engineering and still get in if you have the grades, a nigh MCAT score, the prereqs, and a good CV.

Queens University has a good Bio Dept. So does UBC. These may not be best, just happen to be the ones I know of.

Macleans Magazine ranks the Canadian schools. But why would you go anywhere other than the University of British Columbia (UBC)? Highly ranked school, beautiful campus, great town.

Because other Canadian schools are also highly ranked, with beautiful campuses and great towns?
