baby at +2 station?

Anonymous
yesterday at my doctor's appointment they noted that I am 80% effaced, closed, plus 2. Apparently the "plus 2" refers to the location of the baby's head in the pelvis, but I don't know much more than that, and completely forgot to look it up when I got home last night.

At the office, and just curious about it. Anyone knowledgable on this "station" business? thanks in advance!

Your baby hasn't dropped yet - hasn't come down with her/his head engaged in the pelvis.

This is the OP- That's strange, because I was told I HAD dropped and that the baby was sitting really low in my pelvis.

0 station denotes the head engagement. So +2 means the head is 2 cm below that point. If you google the term, you should be able to see the pictures. I personally think that's great news as it means that much less work for you and the baby when labor starts! Good luck!
