ISO NWDC Orthodontist to treat Underbite

| Has anyone had a good experience with an orthodontist in treating an underbite for a 7/8yo? We have had a few consultations with big differences in treatment recommendations. Would appreciate any recommendations on orthodontists as well thoughts on what to expect. Thanks! |

| We are in the same boat. We went to Dr. Tigani and really liked him but his treatment plan was very different than the ortho we drove to in VA. I don't know what to do.... |

| Our dentist has recommended Darlene Byrd and Jill Bruno, but we haven't seen either one yet (appointments coming up in a couple of weeks). Would you mind posting brief impressions of those you have met? In your child's case, is the problem skeletal or dental? |

OP here... we had consultations about a year ago and at that time, it was borderline whether it's a skeletal issue and required a facemask treatment or whether it could be corrected just with braces. One doc wanted to move quickly with a facemask, one wanted to begin the braces treatment, and one wanted to wait and see until the front 8 teeth were erupted. We went with wait and see, and are now approaching the point were he should be reevaluated.
The facemask seems like such a drastic measure. Has anyone had this treatment? Did it work? Were there significant self-image issue for your child? |

| OP here. We had our nearly 8 yo evaluated again recently - X-rays showed that the issue is skeletal, so we're going forward with an expander and the reverse pull headgear. We've yet to begin the treatment. Would love any advice from parents who have been through the process on managing the headgear time, social issues, etc. Thanks, |
