Is this a sign of low progesterone?

Hi All -

Have been trying TTC for 11 months with no success. For the last three months I’ve been having really strange periods. My periods are 3 – 5 days late and the blood is dark brown and somewhat scant. It’s definitely not my normal period. I’ve mentioned this to my Gyn and he sort of shrugged it off. Could it be a sign of low progesterone? Has anyone else experienced something like this?

FWIW I’ve been temping and have a shorter luteal phase (9 – 10 days). Also, prior TTC I was on birth control (pill) for nearly 10 years off and on. Don't know if either of those things are related.

I had very low progesterone and didn't have any of the symptoms you mention.

OP: It almost sounds like you're having chemical pregnancies--the classic "late period."

Are you getting beta tests to confirm pregnancy? Has your OB/GYN tested you at day 21 for your progesterone levels? Sounds like it's time to move on to an RE, who is, unlike an OB/GYN, a specialist in getting you pregnant.
