Aftercare programs for Arlington elementary schools - How much do they cost?

We're considering moving to Arlington for elementary school, but we never thought about the cost of aftercare for the schools. In DC, everyone can have aftercare and it's only five dollars a day. How does it work in Arlington? Can everyone have aftercare? How much does it cost? I can't find anything on the ArlingtonCounty website.

I currently pay $453 per month for extended day in an Arlington public school. I am not positive but believe that the rates are the same at each school. I think the after care is roughly $280 of this cost. Unlike in Fairfax County where there can be waiting lists for care, Arlington guarantees a spot provided that you meet the registration deadlines. The fees are income-based. I pay the heist rate (HHI more than $100k).

We use after school Extended Day only and it is $290/month. It was slightly more last year before our school got FLES but now that we no longer have early release on Wednesday that means fewer hours at Extended Day so the cost went down.

At our school, before care opens at 7 and runs until school starts (9:00). After care runs from dismissal until 6.

My extended day payment is $313/month at our school, after school only, and we are paying the highest rate (on a sliding scale based on income).

Yes, the rate for aftercare is only 5 dollars a day!!! Some people don't even pay the five dollars a day, and no one checks up on them to pay! Other have completely free aftercare if they are low income.

In arlinton, can you use extended day on a drop in basis? For example, i doubt i will typically need before care on a regular basis but may need it 4 or 5 times a month.

The link does show the fees but you have to choose which school from the menu on the left. No, there is not drop-in care.

I think you can use it that way, but you still pay the monthly rate. There is no daily drop in fee.

You cannot do Arlington Ext Day on a drop in basis. You pay the full fee whether you use it every day or not.

Sounds like the poster needing it on a drop in basis should look for a college sitter or neighbor to help out.

But you don't have to use it full time, right? If you wanted to just do 2-3 days a week you can do that, correct? You just pay the same amount either way.
