Lowell School: Changed with a new administration?

Anonymous
Do any current Lowell families have any thoughts on the changes that have or will take place since the school got a new head? Is it a change for the better in your opinion?

Also, how well does the school handle kids who are a bit ahead of their grade level?

Thanks for the input.

Current Lowell parent here: I really like the new head. There have not been dramatic changes, but the changes that have come into place have been ones that I agree with.

The answer to your next question depends a little bit on where your child has been in prior school because if you are transferring there will probably be some areas that your child has done more work on than Lowell and other areas where your child has done less. The school deals with kids who are at all different levels because the teaching tends to be very individualized anyway. There are different groups used for word study starting I think at grade 2; kids read books based on where they are in their reading skills; kids who are "ahead" in math work on different problems/issues in small groups; kids are pushed in written assignments to maximize their growth depending on where they are (i.e., a kid who is already writing well grammatically would be pushed to improve word choice and persuasiveness, for example).
