Vitamix/Blendtec

For those of you who have a vitamix or blendtec (I think those are the primary heavy-duty blender brands), tell me what you like to make. Do you make green smoothies? Soups? Mine is being delivered today and just curious what others use theirs for. I got it primarily as an alternative to my juicer, which I love, but I also think there is a benefit to eating the whole vegetable/fruit.

Green smoothies. Rarely use it for anything else.

I have a vitamix and LOVE it! I make smoothies, milkshakes, soups, pancake batter, even made cheese sauce for mac n cheese for the kids when I didn't have a box of the crap they love. They loved it!

I have a vitamix and love it! I make everything - smoothies, soups, sauces, ice cream and nutbutters. It was hard to choose between the two but this Blendtec vs Vitamix review helped me narrow it down.

Can someone please explain the difference between a Vitamix and a regular blender? I make smoothies, soups, sauces, all the time with my regular blender and it's been working fine for years now. I don't understand why people need special machines for making smoothies.

Wondering the same thing. I make green smoothies in my regular blender every morning, and they seem very smooth to me. I just use the "liquefy" setting once I put the greens in the mix. It does take FOREVER to blend the frozen fruit and it is super loud. Would one of the fancier blenders help with either of those things? Our blender is so loud that my 2.5 yo asked this morning if we could buy a new blender because this one hurts his ears. Lol.

the vitamix is better just because of its sheer power. regular blenders tend to leave some ice chunks or not blend as evenly or as finely. regular blenders can also be a huge pain to clean.

Is the vitamix easy to clean?

we just got the vitamix this week at costco and i love it. it is super easy to use and very easy to clean. i don't like complicated appliances, and vitamix is probably the easiest appliance to use! highly recommend it. i've already made smoothies, sorbets.. and am planning on making soup tonight.

Yes, the Vitamix very easy to clean, completely different from a regular blender. You just put water and a drop of soap in it and blend it for 20 seconds and rinse

I make smoothies, hummus, chocolate avocado pudding, hummus, some soup steps (never make full soup in it), chopping, and DELICIOUS frozen coffee drinks!!! My children think blended fruit is ice cream...I just take frozen strawberries, mango, and bananna, a splash of milk and blend it into a sorbet consistency.

Right now, I am on a green morning drink kick. I make it very thin, much more like a drink than a smoothie...it is a cup of kale, handful of Italian parsley, think slice of lemon, 1/2 apple, and 1/4 avocado, then a ton of ice and water. It is very refreshing and is a great way to start my day.

I make tons of smoothies (green and otherwise) and in the winter lots of broccoli cheese soup. Yum. It's very easy to clean--just do it right away--watercnd dish soap and run it a few seconds then rinse. Best kitchen gadget money I ever spent by far.

Whats the difference between a Vitamix and food processor? (Outside of cost)!

A food processor is more for chopping and dough and mixing and is a pain in the ASS to clean with all of the parts and pieces.

I use my Vitamix to puree or to even make sorbet.

With that said, between my Cuisinart food processor and my Vitamix, one gets used at least daily...often my Vitamix gets used up to 3xs a day.

Thanks, PP. So I were willing to clean all the parts of the food processor, coudl I use it for the same things? (Not that I am, just want to know exactely what I am paying for... convenience of not washing, or someting else!) Thanks
