for what? breads, cakes, cupcakes, french pastry...?
NW is huge...what area?
For bread and French pastry, Le Caprice on 14th Street in Columbia Heights is great. The kitchen has big windows, so you can watch them baking. It's owned by a nice family who lives in the neighborhood, too. They take special orders... my friend has ordered really good tartes and other pastries for parties.

Macarons/cupcakes/cakes -- DC Patisserie hands down. I picked up some of her macarons at Seasonal Pantry then called in an order for cupcakes. Amazing. Very small operation though, I don't think she has a storefront.

Baked and Wired in Georgetown
Leslie's Fancy Cakes. Have not had their cakes/cupcakes, but highly recommend their chocolate chip cookies and brownies.
The above is in Betheda.

Praline in Bethesda for cakes, cookies, macaroons, baguettes and breakfast pastries. Pricey but worth it.
Something Sweet
A vegan bakery is the best bakery in DC/Bethesda? I doubt it. (Curiously, I posted this once before and it was deleted. Wonder why?) OP, try Baked and Wired or Le Caprice, depending on what you want. |
Just Cakes in Bethesda.
