I always do our taxes on Turbotax, but due to recent increases in employment/income without equivalent increases in offsets, it is looking like we are going to owe a significant amount (well, I consider $3k significant). I would like to have someone 1) take a look at our taxes to make sure that we are doing them correctly (i.e. prepare our taxes for us), and 2) help us with planning for our deductions this year. We are trying to buy our first home and are expecting our first child this year! DH is also expecting a pretty significant raise, so this could cause us even more headache if we don't get this figured out. If this person can also help with financial advice, as in beginning to save for baby's education, retirement savings, etc., that would be a bonus.

We live in Arlington, but I don't mind going somewhere else in NOVA to get these done. Hopefully we aren't waiting too late! I actually did our taxes on Turbo Tax and Tax Act and got the same result, but it's worth it to me to pay someone to make sure.

No NOVA recommendations but we go into DC (we live in Alexandria) to see Mike Fine with Finesse Tax Accounting (I think that's what it is called.. Finesse something). It is in NW DC near Howard University. The guy is a tax genius and saved us A. TON. of money this year. I started seeing him because of some online recommendations and they were spot on.. he is worth the drive!
