Carpool to Holton Arms?

Anonymous
Anyone in Capitol hill or east of the river get accepted into Holton Arms? I'm looking to carpool in the fall.

Thanks

That's the only downside to Holton. It is a haul and mostly a Maryland school. Get used to the drive for play dates and activities.

The school actively encourages carpools and will help you look for them. Once you have access to the directory, it's easy to see who lives close to you. There are families on the Hill and east of the river who attend.

Great that's good to know! Can't wait for the new school year

Holton has school bus services. There may not be one that comes directly to your area but you might be able to meet up with one of the routes. That's what we do, and it works beautifully.

How much is the bus service? That's one of the great things about Potomac.

You may be better off moving to Montgomery county. Closer to the school and better adjustment for you DD. Holton does not attract a lot of DC girls. NCS, Sidwell, GDS, etc do a much better job of attracting academically strong DC students. Holton is simply too far out. And with traffic it's a tough commute.

It an extra $1000+. Then there's the tablet you'll need to purchase for about $1700. Tuition is just the tip of the iceberg.

The directory has a section of girls organized by zip code solely for this purpose. I'm certain if you enroll and just ask, they'll give you names of the folks near you.

$1700 for a tablet? A fully loaded iPad 3 is only $800. That's highway robbery.

Congrats and welcome! Holton is a great school.

They're doing a pilot with iPads. Originally, I was not a fan of the tablets but they seem to accomplish a lot with them. My iPad does not help me at all with work so I don't imagine it working well with students. I'm glad DD has the tablet.

I prefer the tablet over the ipad. I want my DD to get computer and word processing skills. I think having the tablet helps them with that much more than an ipad. I hope they decide to go back to the tablet.
