pardon me in advance for a SUPER trivial question but. . .

how soon before your baby was due did you wash his/her clothes and sheets? My due date August 19th, and I have the day off from work. Should I get busy while I have the chance?
Anonymous
YES, Get busy! I was not dilated at all when my water broke 12 days early on my first child.

As soon as that nesting urge strikes you. I thought it was a fun way to get ready. And my first was 2 weeks early, so you may have less time than you think...(and while you're at it, pack your bags!)

Keep in mind anything you wash can't be returned, though...in case your baby is bigger than expected or the sonographer got the gender wrong!

Also, you may be surprised at how long it takes to do all those tiny clothes! Not to mention the towels, blankets, burp rags, sheets, etc... I'm due the 14th, but started our laundry as soon as we got furniture a couple weeks ago, and am finally finishing the last load right now, just in time for my recently scheduled c-section in 2 days! (Also, depending where your washer is located (ie: climbing stairs), it can be really tiring, so don't try to cram it all into one day.

I'm also due on August 19!

Yes, wash those items now. Pack a few things in a bag just in case...I went into labor at 37 weeks with my first and hadn't done any of these things. Went to the hospital with literally nothing but the Washington Post so I could do the sudoku that day...had no clue I'd be leaving with a BABY! I digress...if your nesting energy is strong now and you cook, you might also consider making a few easy meals to freeze (lasagna, some soups, etc) for those first few weeks when you don't want to cook or order out.

OP here-

Well, never washed those clothes. Went into labor right after I got off the internet after posting on Monday. Home now and happy, but husband is running around making sure we have some clean t-shirts for her!
