Not pregnant and I feel......???

Just curious if anyone else out there has had a similar experience.

I am NOT trying to get pregnant and in fact my DH and I have decided we're NOT deciding on whether or not to have a 3rd for at least another 2 years.....BUT, I just had this feeling that I could be, and I tried to dismiss it, but it kept coming back enough for me to run out and take a test. And by no real surprise, I'm not pregnant, but by some surprise (a little) I do feel kind of sad about it. How crazy is that? I'm not even looking to have another (I think) but just that brief thought of having another pregnancy, and the "could I be?" and having something really special in our lives again was kind of a boost, if even a fake boost.

Our kids our only 1 and 3 years so its not like we have nothing to do at home.

Do I need to consider getting a dog or something!?

Madness!

Ha... I had that experience before we had kids, before we were even trying or wanted to... and I know that strange tinge of sadness!!

Chalk it up to hormones or nostalgia or whatever.... But if it keeps happening, maybe somebody's trying to tell you something!

do not...i repeat...do NOT get a dog!!! that will be more trouble than you can imagine, considering you have two babies at home. i think what you are feeling is totally normal! heck, i felt a slight let-down at my first sonogram when i saw that it was just one fetus (i was entertaining the idea of twins. ha!). so, while it definitely wasn't a loss to have my one son, i had talked myself into having twins and was disappointed, for about 5 minutes. take a deep breath and go hug your babies!

I think it's beautiful that even with two young ones, the fleeting possibility of a third one gets you excited. It says a lot about what you already have, and gives you some idea of what you might want later.

You are blessed, not crazy.

OP: Thank you PP! I think that is the nicest thing anyone has ever said to me on this board. You are a special person!
