I have been on Yasmin for several years and *gasp* I am just now reading about all the lawsuits. I have a health issue which *may* be related to yasmin according to some of the legal stuff I read and it's not pleasant to say the least. Regardless...I want to get off this pill pronto. Please recommend a pill which...

*has been around a while so we know it is relatively safe
*won't make me gain weight
*won't cause major mood swings

I am willing to break out in adult acne though I have enjoyed the smooth lovely skin I got from Yasmin. I'll just get acne cream as needed. I can handle a little moodiness at first. I just don't want to worry about stroke, embolisms, kidney disease and oh I dunno...SUDDEN DEATH! I don't smoke, I exercise and eat healthy, but I am what many would consider middle aged so while I know many b-control pills are safe for those in their 20s....I am not 40 . HELP!

PP..I AM 40..approaching 41, but clearly in denial since I wrote I am NOT 40

Levlen (actually the generic of it) was my all-time fave b.c. pill, and I've taken a lot over the years; I took it into my 40's.

Thx! I'm looking into it Levlen! I took Orthocept way back when and I can't recall why I ever switched.

Have you considered the Nuva Ring? It's just as effective as the pill but since it's localized hormonal contraception it's got a lower dose than the pill. Also with the ring you get the bonus of not having to remember to take a pill every day -- you wear the ring for 3 weeks, take it out, have withdrawal bleeding (aka a period) and put another one in. I was on the ring for years and loved it, I would even keep it in for 4 weeks at a time so I skipped my period most months. Highly, highly recommend it.

It made me break out terribly. Worse than when I was a teenager.
