I'm having a group of kids over for a lunchtime party for my DD's bday. Totally casual.. but can't think of much fun for lunch ideas. needs to satisfy kids from ages 2 - 12. Needs to be easy for mama. And easy to serve.. we don't have a lot of places for kids to eat, so they'll just sort be everywhere. All I can think of is PBJ sanwhiches (cut into shapes to be fun) or pizza.. but neither of those ideas grabs me. Thoughts? Thanks!

| We are having a kids lunch party coming up and are going to make sandwiches in the waffle iron. Grilled cheese and almond butter with bananas. You butter the bread on the outside, just like for regular grilled cheese. Then pop the sandwich in the hot waffle iron for about 3 minutes. We're going to make a stack of them in the hour before the party. We've done it before and they're so fun to eat. |
| Bagels and cream cheese are a hit with many kids. Serve with some fresh fruit. |

I'd do one of these:
Make a big pan of homemade mac n cheese and serve it with sliced fruit and/or veggies. Make-your-own english muffin pizzas would be fun if they'll be arriving pre-lunch. It'd give them something to do. Cheese, sauce, pepperoni, veggies - they can make faces, designs, etc. then toast in your oven on a cookie sheet until the cheese is melted. Serve with sliced fruit or veggies. Or, you can make your own chicken fingers (not so hard - use shake n bake) and they cook the same time/temp as tater tots, so you put them in and they will be ready together. |
