I have 2 miracle blankets, diapers, undershirts, and a couple of onesies. I wanted to hold off getting too much as I know many people will get us clothing gifts after the baby's arrival, plus we do not know if we are having a girl or boy. But still, I don't want to be underprepared. Any ideas on other things I will really need immediately (again clothing wise)
Thx. |
I'd get several onsie t-shirts and leave it at that. There were days my little guy pooped through 5-8 outfits. |
I'd buy a few pairs of pants, as well. Carter's sells the two or three packs of cotton stretchie pants. |
I liked to keep my infant in socks if they were just wearing a onesie. I usually put them in some pajamas for bed to keep them warm because our house is air conditioned. Sometimes I would put a little pair of pants over the onesie if we were somewhere cool or if I was worried about sun exposure. I went through a lot of blankets at first. And spit cloths - my kids were bigtime spitters. |
Lots of cotton, side-fastening shirts. Socks that are small enough and elastic enough to stay on. Cotton hats. Also, BuyBuyBaby made these cotton long john sets that we used a lot. |
PP again. Also, I would encourage you to get a number of the long-sleeved side-fastening cotton shirts that have the little mittens on the end of the sleeves - newborns have VERY sharp little nails and tend to cut themselves very easily in their sleep. |
My son, born in June, pretty much wore onesies for the first three months. I had a bunch of t-shirts that I never used probably because I hate the look of the diaper alone. I also never really put him in sleepers- I thought the swaddler was cover enough and we do not keep our home overly cool. I would endorse the socks, stretchy pants and hat. You want to keep your life as easy as possible and there are tons of diaper changes in the first few months so although there are countless, cute, fussy outfits, you may want to keep it simple for everyday. Congrats! |
Thanks to all! I appreciate all of the advice. |
I don't think you need much at all except side fastening T-shirts and some light pants to keep his legs from getting cold as some of the PPs suggested. The side snapping Ts are so easy to put on the baby. You can buy 3-packs at Target pretty cheaply. I personally didn't like ds to wear onesies until his cord fell off. Are the miracle blankets for swaddling? If not, I'd suggest you either get some blankets for swaddling and/or some lightweight sleep sacks, especially if you have A/C in your house. |
