first cold-sneezing, runny nose, watery eyes-10 months old-should I use a humidifier

Anonymous
My son seems to have gotten a cold or maybe is just sick but he hasn't had anything like this and I wanted to make sure I did the right thing. I gave him some infant ibuphrofen this morning and right before bed since he felt warm and sneezed with lots of clear mucous (once early this morning it was light yellow but the rest of the day plentiful but clear) after the medicine it was rare that his nose ran--and then later in the day the signs came back so I gave the med again. Is it helpful for him to sleep with a cold water humidifier on? I have it running but wanted to run it by someone on here before I went to sleep.

a cool mist humidifier is usually recommended, yes.

It may or may not help him, but it won't do any harm.

cool mist-yep that is what I meant I read somewhere that only distilled water should be used-is that true?

We use a warm mist humidifier, even in the summer. Not sure if a cool mist is better or not, but per Dr. Sear's website...he suggested the warm mist vaporizer.
