i just started looking for a bike seat for my one-year-old. I have a decent Raleigh hybrid bike that I haven't ridden since early pregnancy. I can't wait to get back on it!
I'm not interested in towing a trailer. any thoughts on front vs back seats? brands? helmets? |
We had a Topeak kid seat. On the rear. I'm a little leery about having my kid strapped to the bars in front of me. Don't want to ram him into anything. Also I think i would find it distracting. Could just be a matter of preference.
The pull-along trailer is pretty great, too. I likely would have bought that if space wasn't tight. |
i asked an expert and was told that the trailer is the safest, followed by the back seat. the front seat is not safe. |
We have the front seat and I think it's a lot of fun to be able to talk to my son while we bike. That being said, if you child is tall, he won't last long in the front seat. And going up hills is difficult because you can't really get up and over your child's head to leverage yourself over the bike pedals. |
