Okay, I'll bite... First, you said it, you know FATHERS making a boatload in CRE. Its a completely male dominated and chauvinistic industry. They tend to act and party like frat boys - and are the husbands most likely to cheat with approval from their "professional" peers. It takes no real intellect and hardly any actual work to be a successful CRE broker. All of the above make it a joke and pathetic. But, you are making boatloads of money and that is all that matters so go right along.

You must not know that some of the biggest CRE families send their kids to STA, SFS and NCS.

Got it. Thanks. Do they still have Hardshell teams after the merger with VLC?

The Hardshells thing had nothing to do with VLC. They occasionally formed a B (or Hardshells) team if they had a surplus of kids trying out for a grade that they wanted to keep. But the main reason wa whenever one of the Crabs coaches had a son that wasn't selected for Crabs, so they put together a 2nd team to keep the dad/son in the program.

There are currently no Hardshells team.

My son is not on a travel team and wanted to play box lacrosse. How advanced is box and how rough does it get. He is also in 4th grade.

It depends on the league. Some leagues allow cross checking and moving screens. You should see if his rec program enters kids in a box league. If he plays indoor, it should be with kids comparable to or above his skill level. But if he is a rec kid, he should not be playing against most club teams.

What options are there for a kid that is one of the best on his rec team but may not be good enough to make travel team in MD? Problem with Bethesda rec league is that at youth level half the kids can't catch and coaching is hit or miss. Thanks!

Club lacrosse has made a huge mistake to alienate the kids who aren't on the top tier at ages 10-12. If lacrosse people had any brains they'd realize their business is about fielding youth teams and eventually also retaining HS kids who want to play in the summer or some in the fall. A 100% focus on building a business around the very few kids who will get some college attention is worth what? $3,000 a year from a cadre of 5-10 families for whom college recruiting is worth a while from 7th grade to 10th grade?

Starting a coin laundry is a better business than that. Club lacrosse teams should be knocking themselves out to keep as many youth players in the game as they can manage to via more teams.
