Is this labor?

I KNOW this has been posted to death. . .

I have been having Braxton Hicks all day. I can talk through them, and they come about every half hour. Did any of you have this go on for days? I have read so much about "practice contractions" that I am reticient to think this is real labor. . .

Everyone says you know when it's real...no need to ask. I have braxton hicks constantly but it doesn't mean anything. Mine don't hurt, but it can get pretty uncomfortable from the tightening.

Mine went on for three days before I knew without a doubt oh my god this is the worst pain I've ever been in that I was in labor!

When you're in labor you will absolutely not have to ask "Is this labor?" Best wishes!

There were many days when mine went on all day.

You should time them to see if they are getting closer together.

can someone explain what a braxton hicks contraction feels like so I can recognize it and compare it to a real contraction.

Braxton hicks can feel just like a regular contraction, except they do not dialate your cervix and when you change position, drink water, etc., they go away.

Agreed with the other posters about knowing when it's the real thing. But, until then, I would describe braxton hicks as your stomach tightening until it is hard like a rock. I am 31 weeks and have them very frequently - although they only last a few seconds. My dr. said to call if I have more than 6 in one hour.
