Yes. They sent it because I have donated in the past. I won't be giving them any more $$.

I could not believe the level of detail of the survey.

They are spending a lot of money on damage control. Hired a PR firm, Ogilvy Public Relations. Those survey are not cheap, but they will help Ogilvy Public Relations create a new image for Komen and get back to ranking in the $$$.

An interesting tid-bit, Oglivy also helped the Heart Truth when they had to back-track and explain where all the Diet Coke money goes, becasue it doesn't all go to Women's heart health research.

Where does the money come from to pay this Oglivy PR firm? Donations perhaps or from the huge salaries the top executives make?

I heard their most recent walks still got good crowds, but i bet most of those people were already committed and had raised their money before the scandal broke.

There are a lot of ways to give to breast cancer research, to fund prevention, and to support women with breast cancer. I don't have the time or energy to decide if Komen can win back my trust. It's easier to write checks to the organizations which have not made such a spectacular blunder.

I'm on a committee at my company to select the charity that we'll be contributing to this year and I made a motion to stop contributing to Komen this year. My motion passed our committee unanimously.

In the survey they were very concerned about people donating to other charities in lieu of sending their $$ to Komen. 2 that they mentioned are the Breast Cancer Reseach Foundation and Living Beyond Breast Cancer. I might look into these if you are not satisfied with Komen's actions - but want to suppor the cause.
