| I am currently an attorney at an agency, but I've been looking into in-house counsel positions. Has anyone done both of these jobs that could compare the two? Particularly a comparison of hours required, pay and fulfilling work. I like my job now, but it seems like I've topped out on how far I can go at my agency and I still have many years of work left. I know I'm not interested in going to a law firm. |

Not an attorney but I work in a corporate environment in the entertainment/communications industry. We had new counsel come from a firm in the Tyson's area I think and she was quite pleased to leave the office no later than 6pm on most evenings, arriving in the morning around 9. I also see her take a Starbucks break with her legal secretary every day around 2 so it seems her schedule is quite flexible. She deals mostly with vendor/business partner contracts and regulatory requirements. She must like it, she's been here for about 5 years.
A neighbor was a paralegal and she joined my company in the law dept as a legal secretary a little over 2 years ago and hasn't been happier. We have paralegal positions but she doesn't want to go hourly with the mandatory OT. |
