My view of the campaign lately

Why do you think Obama isn't farther ahead in the polls. I'm stunned at the numbers.

Because negative campaigning works. That's why Obama is blasting back at McCain, and it's why I posted my little pictorial joke; it's a negative attack on McCain. My own little attempt at turnabout.

Because he's the slick Hollywood type (like Clinton). He's form over substance.

Hey, Jeff, everbody gets old one day (if you're lucky). There are those of us who like the fact that McCain has been around the block.

Its not his age that's the root of the similarity. Its his crankiness and forgetfulness. Even Ed Rollins, a Republican political consultant, recently said about McCain, "He was jovial and fun and now he comes across as a grumpy old man."

Recently McCain has:

1) confused Shia and Sunni Muslims;
2) identified General Petraeus at the Head of the Joint Chiefs of Staff;
3) mixed up the order of events in Iraq surrounding the surge;
4) talked about a non-existent Iraq - Pakistan border;
5) confused Somalia and Sudan;
6) and even mixed up the Green Bay Packers and Pittsburgh Steelers.

And, just like a lot of grandfathers, McCain is constantly repeating the same old stories from the past. No doubt that McCain has been around the block. Too many times around the block, in fact.

And what is Obama's excuse?

I assume that you expected nobody would actually follow that link and just accept the implication that Obama has made frequent misstatements. Unfortunately for you, I did go to the page. The data (last updated in March, so its probably written by a Hillary supporter) is as laughable as many of McCain's recent statements. For instance, Obama saying that he was a law professor is not a misstatement given the fact that he was a law professor. Just like Grandpa Simpson, you are stuck in the past and overly forgetful.

You're entitled to your opinion of Obama, and I'm entitled to mine, and neither will change. Accusing me of being "stuck in the past" and "overly forgetful" is not very nice. I work with disabled veterans, and have a great appreciation for McCain.

Thanks for defending us old folks. McCain only has five years on me, so I sympathize with his word substitutions. I do the same thing, and sometimes don't even hear myself say the wrong word. But what's in my head is totally correct. Fortunately, I'm retired now, so I no longer have to worry what might happen if people go by what comes out of my mouth rather than what I'm thinking.

In any case, I think I'll start a new GOP: Geezers for Obama for President,

And I'd like to add that I posted the link so people would read it. I hardly consider 5 months ago to be ancient history. When it comes to integrity and reputation, there's no statute of limitations.
