Supreme Court may halt college affirmative action

of course it is discriminatory, there are many white students with legacy status, who get in with lower scores than the ones who have give their spot to a minority student

The tables have turned on AA. It used to be a helping hand to minorities, or a way to address historical discrimination in a university.

But now, these universities need to fix their diversity problem in order to be competitive for top recruits. Every university works hard to secure a certain number of very high achieving students, and they can't effectively recruit if their school is perceived as predominantly white.

So in this way it's the same as taking Junior, the mediocre B student whose father is a rich alum. They are trying to help themselves, and why shouldn't they?

These Supremes certainly will rule unconstitutional any consideration of race (or presumably, religion as well) in admission policies. The current law allows schools to consider race but not to make race the determining factor. Only a group of Republicans would rule that universities may consider legacy status in its admission policies but not racial diversity. Bizarre.

Anything it takes to keep people as uneducated as possible.

because a landlord who owns an apartment block is not allowed to discriminate when picking tenants
Because education is what every young person needs, has to have
Because the Junior, a mediocre B student is not in any way more deserving than the other mediocre B student.

And a lot of the legacy-only-based-admission schools are no longer the top universities. Some other institutions who look at more than the fathers name when picking students are doing better

America is behind academically. Most of the people doing research are foreigners from other institutes of higher learning

But are not the first generation college applicants not the ones who should be applying to go to college?
Or are they supposed to accept their low place in society?
