Anyone going to the early inperson registration for DC parks and rec summer camp?

So this year they're having in person registration for the popular camps on Saturday for the following camps:

Friendship Recreation Center (Little Explorers Camp) Chevy Chase Community Center (Little Explorers, Discovery, and Tween Camps) Chevy Chase Recreation Center (Little Explorers Camp) Volta Park Recreation Center (Little Explorers and Score Sports Camp) Guy Mason Recreation Center (Little Explorers Camp) Rose Park Recreation Center (Little Explorers Camp)

I am wondering why Lafayette on there. Last year, Lafayette sold out before CC.

Has anyone done the Chevy Chase ones? Which one is better CC Comm Center or Rec Center? Anyone try Friendship?

Do you think the line will be really crazy? I'm really dreading having to sacrifice a Sat morning.

I think it's going to be a nightmare that backfires in the face of DPR. They are doing it because they don't have systems in place to handle the deluge when registration goes live online so they have come up with the first come first served idea.

I don't think they have any idea what to expect; there will probably be more people than they imagined and they wlll not have appropriate crowd control in place.

OP - you might want to post in the summer camps forum. Not trying to police the forum, you just might better and more feedback there.

Francesca Scott at CCCC needs to get her act together. Her predecessor used to send out emails about upcoming classes and everything was online. It was back to the stone age when she took over.

So do you think we should get there at 6am or start camping out now to get the pick of spots?

I don't think I'm going to try. I will just wait online and apply for Lafayette.
