I am about to have c-section #2 and I am wondering if anyone has had luck with topical treatments to help the scar heal? With my first, I used Mederma religiously in the weeks following the delivery, but my scar healed poorly anyway. It's low enough that you can't even see it when I'm in a bikini, but if I can help the scar heal better this next time I'd love to do so. Anyone have any recommendations? |
My OB recommended Vitamin E oil. Haven't tried it yet though, so can't say how well it would work, but just a suggestion. |
I use cocoa butter, but I will tell you what worked better than anything else: those suction cups they use at the acupuncture clinic that "loosen" the scar tissue through suction. Mine looks so much better than before...and has worked on other scars as well. |
I just had C #2 (9 weeks ago), and instead of stitches/staples, I got the crazy glue (not the proper medical term, but that's basically what it is).
They removed my old scar completely and glued the new one up and I kid you not, my scar is 1/4 the size of the original. It's teeny tiny. I was at Sibley and they said that whatever the kind of glue is, it just came on the market--I was kind of a guinea pig for it in the hospital. So anyway, if offered, TOTALLY do it. |
I've had 2 c-sections and I swear the best thing I did was get my c-scar waxed while I was getting a bikini wax. It hurt like hell but totally lightened up the scar. |
Wow! Really? How long did you wait to do this? I'm only 2 months post C-section, but I can't imagine ever having hot wax touch my scar. You sound brave! |
Mederma should also help for the scarring. |
Wow, that's tough! I am 2 yrs post delivery and still can't stand the idea of waxing my scar. It's way too sensitive. |
I've had my scar waxed over countless times and while it doesn't hurt (at least not as bad as other areas), unfortunately, it hasn't been any help in lightening it at all. |
I had two C's and I cannot see either scar, even when I look. Maybe a faint white line. I also had no stretch marks, even though my stomach was the size of one of those birthing balls. Everyone is different. |
PP here again...thanks for all the tips! I have heard of the "crazy glue." In fact, I discussed alternatives to the typical wound dressings they use (sticky adhesive stuff over the incision...that's what I got last time) with my doctor and she mentioned the "crazy glue" as an alternative. Will definitely try. Also, just had scar waxed over last week in prep for this next section...can't say it helped the scar look any better but now it's nice and clean. Ha. Thanks again. |
I wouldnt recommend waxing for at least 6-8mos postpartum until things are much more healed and less sensitive. For me, it hurt like hell but definitely did lighten it up.. |
