Lanier Middle School (Fairfax City)

I recently overheard a parent saying that if her child's only option is to feed into Lanier Middle School, she will homeschool. I was only eavesdropping and was busy tending to my toddler, so I didn't have an opportunity to jump in to the conversation. I have children in elementary school that will feed into Lanier. What gives? Any feedback? And please do no refer me to the Great Schools website. I'm looking for more first hand information. Thanks!

Yes, I am very curious too about this school. I have a suspicion that the Great School Rating for this school is inflated or does not reflect reality on the ground. Any first hand experience would be very helpful.

My neighbors seem to really like the school - and we have to travel a bit to get there when there is another good MS just up the road.

Fairfax City's new superintendent is a real rockstar. I guarantee things will start improving.

Not sure of how it is these days, but not too long ago it was a sought after middle school. I'd be surprised if it went down hill too much.

The way everyone touts Woodson and Oakton, it makes Fairfax HS seem like blah. Is this not a desirable pyramid? Why, why not? Looking for "on the ground" feedback.

Not really sure what Fairfax City does for its schools. They are run by FCPS. The buildings seem to be in good condition.
