| My regular stylist moved from the Hill to California so I'm looking for someone new. I have a great midlength haircut and get color to make my brown hair less drab. She's pretty reasonably priced so I'm afraid of sticker shock - am willing to go to the MD or DC suburbs for someone good but less expensive. Any advice would be great. Thanks! |
| I'd check out Bang Salon in Penn Quarter. |
I've been to three stylists at Bang Penn Quarter. Color was ok, but the cuts were not that great. |
| I go to Yodite at Salon Revive on 9th Street, followed her from Salon Cielo in Dupont when she opened her own salon a number of years ago. Great cut and color and very reasonable for DC. |
| Aveda school gallery place Chinatown |
| Any other suggestions? I'd love to find someone near Silver Spring. |
| Hugo Salon in Kensington/Wheaton on University Blvd. i like Athanasia. |
Only go here if you are desperate. The cuts are very, very basic and the stylists are rude. |
| Hair Cuttery? |
i second this. i've been to a number of their stylists ando nly had a bad experience with one, who is no longer there. |
I love Salon EFX, in Hillandale (it's in the same shopping center as Value Village, just off the Beltway). Ask for Tom. |
| Graham Webb student salon in Rosslyn? |
Hugo, as others have said Alchemy - by Rte. 29 and Lockwood (North of University) |

I know you are looking for DC or MD, but if near Tysons -Noufal is AWESOME!
http://www.noufalhaircolorstudio.com/ It's not cheap but in line with other salons in the area and worth it's wait in gold. Make an appointment with Joey. Yaffa is excellent as well. |
| Believe it or not, I just got a great haircut at Bubbles salon in Bethesda. It cost $30 and looks as good as the place I used to go that charged $50. |
