| I want to plan a trip to LA for me and my daughters. I am looking for discount airfare... |
I was pricing San Diego a few weeks ago and also looked at LAX thinking I'd just rent a car if there was much differnce. The pricing is very discouraging. I think the days of cheap airfare is long gone. THAT SAID, I do see Virgin America is advertising decent fares but if you have to fly mid-week. |
| Look at flying Southwest out of BWI, it's almost always cheaper. |
| Look at jet blue into orange county I think. |

Go to expedia to get some idea about actual pricing. Check the popular route section. Round trip [come back in a week] non stop is 317.60 with united.
How do you not consider that a low fare? |
| When do you want to go? I am from California and go back about once a year. Now that my daughter is in school, we are relegated to the summer months. What a difference in price! Try to go in the fall or spring and you'll save a lot on airfares and hotels. Typically, Southwest from BWI to LAX is cheapest, especially since you can check two bags for free. We just bought 4 tickets for the end of July for about $1400 total. Sometimes, JetBlue has specials from Dulles to Long Beach and they let you check one bag for free, plus they have individual entertainment. We pick them whenever it makes sense. Virgin America can also have good fares from Dulles to LAX, but you have to pay to check bags, though they also have individual entertainment. |
| Lucky for you there are websites that will look for the cheapest fare for you. Try Expedia, kayak and Travelocity. You will need to search southwest separately. |
